5 Awesome Benefits of the Reishi Mushroom

Uplift Florae Reishi Mushroom Ingredients
Shennong’s Pharmacopoeia is an ancient medical text that’s over 2000 years old. Within, it claims that reishi “lengthens your life and turns you into one like the immortal who never dies.” That sounds pretty cool, if maybe a bit of a stretch. But, obviously, the ancient medical wizards saw a lot of potential in this big shiny shroom.

So, what’s up with this super-powered fungus? Reishi has been an ancient Chinese secret for spiritual growth and longevity since way back BCE. But we like research. Reputation alone doesn’t prove its worth. What did the scientists find? Ganoderma Lucidum, known as reishi mushroom, is packed with antioxidants and neuroprotective properties. Researchers also suggest that it can help with REM, cognitive function, and (possibly) lucid dreaming.

  1. Fight Stress to Boost Immunity

Reishi mushrooms are adaptogenic mushrooms that aid in the regulation of stress hormones in the body. Stress hormones can wreak havoc – causing us to retain fat or develop signs of premature aging. Beta-glucans have been the subject of a tremendous amount of research. This polymer is renowned for supporting the immune system.

  1. May Reduce Cholesterol and Blood Lipids

The beta glucans found in reishi mushrooms protect and improve the quality of blood by improving cholesterol and lipid profiles. β-Glucans is a prebiotic that aids digestion and promotes gut health. All these systems work together. The things we eat enter our digestive systems, then our blood stream for further processing. Our gut is the first line of defense because that’s where the nutrients and negative components first enter our bodies and get sorted. The beta glucan defense blocks some of the junk from making its way further in.

  1. Improve the Quality of Sleep

Reishi is recognized for its ability to help us fall asleep and stay asleep. Unlike sedatives and less natural sleep-aids, consuming reishi won’t cause drowsiness. An article on Healthline went so far as to call it “nature’s Xanax.” But fortunately, it doesn’t cause you to have huge gaps in your memory or chemical dependency. Instead, it eases tension and helps you relax without all the negative consequences.

  1. Meditation

Meditation and Qi Gong Mastery has four pages of text dedicated to the wonderful reishi mushroom. He goes so far as to call it the “rarest of jewels in Nature.” For meditation, we can’t exactly find a researcher who’s going to back up the mushroom’s ability here. Rather, we can gaze back into its uses throughout history. In the book, he says “it was routinely used by mountain hermits, monks, Taoist adepts and spiritual seekers throughout Asia because it was believed to help calm the mind, ease tension, strengthen the nerves, strengthen memory, sharpen concentration, improve focus, build will power and, as a result, help build wisdom (90).” Sounds pretty righteous.

  1. Cognitive Prowess

Wanna get your neurons firing like they used to? Well, the reishi mushroom might be your ticket to witty banter and basic comprehension! Polysaccharides found in reishi have been extensively researched for their neuroprotective benefits.

Shroom Shroom Shake the Room

History and modern research are all pretty pumped about the reishi mushroom, and so are we. We’ve added the reishi mushroom to our Lean Bean Power Coffee and Phyto Superfood Green Drink so it’s easy to incorporate some ancient medicine into your busy modern day.
